My earliest artistic love was dance followed in my teens by a fascination with photography. In college (Art Center College of Design) and in my adult life, I concentrated on children’s book illustration, attracted by the inherent playfulness and humor that fit my personality. I created illustrations for many picture books as well as art for textbooks. In 2008, I also became an elementary school librarian, deepening my admiration and knowledge of children’s books. Today, I am back to my artistic roots: taking my beloved jazz dance classes and finding intriguing images to photograph in my neighborhood and beyond. I continue to explore children’s book art as well as other forms of art: mosaic, polymer, mixed media. My art loves intermingle: I take photographs of the dancers in class, infuse my illustrations with movement, make mosaic figures inspired by children’s book characters. My jam-packed illustrations made me yearn for the opposite—in photography I aim for simplicity and minimalism. Displayed on this site are the combination of these interests.
